{"id":5389,"date":"2023-12-11T17:13:16","date_gmt":"2023-12-11T09:13:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sustainability.npust.edu.tw\/en\/?post_type=news&#038;p=5389"},"modified":"2024-01-04T17:13:34","modified_gmt":"2024-01-04T09:13:34","slug":"farmers-associations-gather-at-npust-for-seminar-and-exchange","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/sustainability.npust.edu.tw\/en\/news\/farmers-associations-gather-at-npust-for-seminar-and-exchange\/","title":{"rendered":"Farmers Associations Gather at NPUST for Seminar and Exchange"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In order to promote agricultural development and pass down experiences from farmers\u2019 associations, on December 4<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;(2023) the NPUST Office of Continuing and Extension Education and College of Agriculture held the \u201cRegional Farmers\u2019 Associations Operations and Promotional Strategies Sharing Seminar\u201d at the College of Agriculture on campus. Held in conjunction with the annual agriculture extension liaison meeting, the seminar was an opportunity to exchange practical experience and develop industry-government-academia channels of exchange. Speakers included Director Chun-Yen Chen of the Ministry of Agriculture (MOA) Farmer Counseling Department, 14 directors of farmers\u2019 association in the Gaoping area, and NPUST faculty members. The lectures covered national agricultural policy, farmers\u2019 association promotional activities, supply and marketing, credit, leisure tourism, ESG, and organizational innovation. The seminar was comprehensive and rich in content, giving the participants lot to walk away with.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NPUST Vice-President for Education, Shang-Min Ma, remarked that \u201cfarmers\u2019 associations play an important role in agriculture by promoting growth in farmers\u2019 finances, economics, and cultivation technology. Many farmers\u2019 associations have been operating for more than a century, transforming over time in response to social development and policy changes\u201d. He also pointed out that NPUST, which is founded on agriculture, \u201cwill celebrate its 100th anniversary next year, and over the century, it has joined hands with farmers\u2019 associations to help cultivate the skills of countless farmers\u2019 children and agricultural experts.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Farmer Counseling Department Director Chun-Yen Chen said \u201cthe improvement of farmers\u2019 incomes and consumer food safety are national policy goals; and the sustainable development of Taiwan\u2019s agriculture is implemented through the promotion of farmers\u2019 welfare, environmental fundamentals, and industrial competitiveness. At the same time, farmers\u2019 associations play an educational, economic, financial, and social role, serving as spokespersons for farmers and protecting their rights and interests.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The cooperation between the Ministry of Agriculture, NPUST, and various farmers\u2019 associations is based on a shared commitment to promote agricultural policies, improve industry-university exchanges, and maintain an interconnected agricultural system.
