The school’s efforts in these areas have once again resulted in prestigious recognition on a national stage. At the 7th Global Views USR Awards (2026), NPUST won three major honors: the Excellence Award in the “Ecological Common Good” category, the Excellence Award in the “Industry Co-creation” category, and the Distinction Award in the “Sustainability Report” category. Topping all national universities of science and technology in award count, these accolades demonstrate NPUST’s solid foundation and profound energy when it comes to USR activities.

During the award ceremony, NPUST President Chin-Lung Chang stated that whether conducting scientific research on the balance between biodiversity conservation and human development, or addressing the challenges of transforming and upgrading Taiwan’s traditional industries, NPUST provides a complete connection between classroom teaching, field practice, and the two-way exchange of technology and experience. Centered on sustainable governance and development, the university’s innovative R&D and talent cultivation activities have become indispensable forces contributing to Taiwan’s ecology and industry.

NPUST received the Excellence Award in the Ecological Common Good category for its project entitled “Public-Private Collaboration for Habitat Protection: Protecting Pangolins to Make Taiwan Shine”. Led by Assistant Professor Ching-Min Sun from the Institute of Wildlife Conservation, the team has long been dedicated to wildlife conservation, ecological surveys, and habitat maintenance. Through cross-sector collaboration between public and private departments and interdisciplinary integration, they have promoted habitat protection and ecological restoration for pangolins. While showcasing NPUST’s long-term achievements in ecological conservation and the eco-industry, their initiative has established an action model that balances biodiversity, environmental education, and local sustainable development.

The Excellence Award in the Industry Co-creation category went to the project dedicated to “Promoting Sustainable Development of the Swine Industry through Smart Swine Farming Technology and Professional Talent Cultivation”. Chaired by Dean Ming-Tang Chiou of the College of Veterinary Medicine, the project utilizes the introduction of smart technology, professional talent training, and industry-academic cooperation to help the traditional pig farming industry move toward modernization, precision practices, and sustainability. The work is a further reflection of NPUST’s long-standing foundation in smart agriculture and its practical effectiveness in R&D and talent cultivation.

The third award that went to NPUST this year was the Distinction Award in the Sustainability Report category. This recognition can be attributed to the fact that under the coordination of the Office of Sustainable Development, the university has continued to strengthen information disclosure, refine university governance, and improve strategic planning for sustainable development. These efforts have gradually produced concrete results which gained the favor of the judges.

By putting the spotlight on outstanding achievements of universities in social participation and sustainable practice, the Global Views USR Awards have become a benchmark for university sustainable development in Taiwan. The three awards NPUST received this year are a significant affirmation of the university’s robust promotion of USR activities which are coordinated by the university’s Center of Interdisciplinary Feature Development under a model that combines professional characteristics, field practice, and social impact. As it continues to practice USR in the future, NPUST will deepen its connections with local communities, industries, and society and work to transform years of research and practical results into more influential sustainable actions.

[71
29
19,22,26,28
post-9328","news","type-news","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","colleges-ifdc","visions-ecological-industry","sdgs-industry-innovation-and-infrastructure","sdgs-responsible-consumption-and-production","sdgs-life-on-land","sdgs-partnerships-for-the-goals
["GET
