On April 12, 2023, National Pingtung University of Science and Technology (NPUST) and Kaohsiung Vocational High School of Commerce signed an industry-university strategic alliance agreement to strengthen exchange and cooperation, and improve education quality and industry performance.
NPUST President Chin-Lung Chang said “in recent years, the Ministry of Education has hoped to see closer cooperation between technical universities and vocational high schools in areas of curriculum and practical application, so that students can learn theory while also acquiring rich practical experience. We are grateful to Kaohsiung Vocational High School of Commerce for their good cooperation with our College of Management and we hope to see more long-term cooperation opportunities arise in the future.”
Principal Wen-yao Yang of the vocational high school said “we are grateful to NPUST for providing professional teaching resources and guidance for our students’ projects and curriculum. Students are also receiving relevant information and frames of reference through university fairs and mock interviews—and these have benefited them a great deal. I hope that the cooperation with NPUST will not only enable students to become more sophisticated in their execution of practical projects, but it will also enhance their cross-disciplinary learning capabilities.”
Through three modes of cooperation, the two parties will be sharing experience related to teaching and technology as they conduct mutual visits and consultations with one another. Special counseling, course collaboration, and the organization of special cooperation teams will also help them to improve “placemaking” and “university social responsibility” while providing assistance to local enterprises. Through resource sharing, expectations are that a good strategic partnership will be developed and a win-win situation created for both parties involved.
