President Dr. Tusana Sirichote of Thailand’s Songkhla Rajabhat University (SKRU) led a delegation that included Vice-President Dr. Narawadee Buakwan, Deputy-Director Dr. Nisita Rittapirom of the Academic Information Office and 15 teachers of the university on a visit to NPUST on May 6th (2024) to participate in a Journal Writing Workshop which was held at the university’s Language Center. NPUST President Chin-Lung Chang, the Dean of both the College of Humanities and Office of International Affairs, Ru-Chu Shih Shih, the Director of the Department of Applied Linguistics, Han-sheng Wang, OIA Director of Education, Chun-Yi Lee, and a group of Thai student representatives welcomed the Thai delegation, and enjoyed a time of exchange together.
President Chin-Lung Chang said: “We welcome Thailand’s Songkhla Rajabhat University (SKRU) on this visit to our school. Our two schools officially established a sister-school relationship in 2017, and this event will not only strengthen our foundation for academic exchange, but will also help add depth to our cooperation in academic research and cultural innovation.”
SKRU President Dr. Tusana Sirichote said “we would like to thank President Chang and all the teachers of NPUST for the reception. We are honored to come for this visit and have academic exchange with NPUST today. I believe that the teachers will benefit a lot, and we look forward to more opportunities for academic exchange in the future.”
The Journal Writing Workshop was instructed by several professors, including Dean Jik-Chang Leong and Director Han-sheng Wang of the International College. They explained the use of language in academic journals and writing standards in various fields to help the Thai teachers improve their academic paper writing. The SKRU team was also invited to visit the Library and Exhibition Hall to see the aesthetic design of the reading space and learn about the history of the school. They were then taken to the Department of Food Science Food Processing Plant, the Green Energy Greenhouse, the Department of Biomechatronics Engineering and other facilities to learn about the R&D capacity at NPUST University and the biotechnology R&D cooperation the school shares with the Agricultural Science Park. This was followed by an excursion to several local attractions to get a better feel for Taiwan’s cultural heritage.
