Hasanuddin University Delegation Visits NPUST

Under the guidance of the Ministry of Education a visit to National Pingtung University of Science and Technology (NPUST) was arranged for Indonesia’s Hasanuddin University (UNHAS) on May 21st, 2024. The delegation from UNHAS was led by university president Prof. Jamaluddin Jompa and included their vice-president and 5 other members of the university. At NPUST the guests were received by university president Chin-Lung Chang, College of Agriculture Dean Jue-Liang Hsu and Vice-Dean Chun-Hung Liu, and Office of International Affairs Vice-Dean Yuh Tzean. The visit was organized to promote exchange and cooperation between the two schools in the field of agriculture. College of Agriculture Dean Jue-Liang Hsu provided the visitors a briefing on behalf of the school and proposed joint research projects and academic exchange activities, such as a dual academic system, in the future.

NPUST’s president, Chin-Lung Chang, personally welcomed the delegation and remarked that that “NPUST and UNHAS signed a memorandum of cooperation in 2016 to establish a sister school relationship. On this current visit, we hope to add depth to academic research exchange between both parties and establish student internship programs. I very much look forward to more academic exchanges opportunities in the future.”

UNHAS’s President, Jamaluddin Jompa, said: “I am very happy to come to NPUST. This visit has not only deepened the friendship between us, but I believe that cooperation between the two parties will open new doors in the future. We look forward to more interdisciplinary cooperation opportunities in agriculture, science, and other related fields, where we can learn from each other and grow together.”

The NPUST Office of International Affairs explained that in addition to the president, the other members of delegation from Hasanuddin University included their vice-president of academic and student affairs, College of Agriculture dean, College of Medicine vice-president of academic and student affairs, Incubation Center and Science Park Director, a communications teacher, and a marine science teacher. Based on the exchange talks, hopes are to harness the capacities of both parties and put together expert teams to conduct interdisciplinary research aimed at meeting the challenges of globalization.
