On June 28 (2024), Saint Lucia’s Minister of Agriculture, Hon. Alfred Prospere led a delegation, including Minister of Housing and Local Government, Hon. Richard Frederick, and members of the Saint Lucia Embassy in Taiwan on a visit to National Pingtung University of Science and Technology (NPUST). University president, Chin-Lung Chang, College of Agriculture dean Jue-Liang Hsu, College of Engineering dean Tien- Chie Chen, International College dean Jik-Chang Leong, Office of International Affairs vice-dean Yuh Tzean, Cooperation Division director Kun-Yu Liu and other related parties welcomed the delegates.

President of NPUST, Chin-Lung Chang, welcomed the delegation and pointed out that “with agriculture as the central feature of development at NPUST, we are incorporating the concepts of sustainable management into our teaching and research. We have cultivated countless talent in agricultural science and technology over the past century and many students from St. Lucia have studied at our school. I hope that this exchange will deepen the friendship between the two parties and strengthen cooperation in a variety of areas.”

Minister Alfred Prospere said “we would like to thank NPUST your warm reception and the great support you provide to students in Taiwan. Today we visited many scientific and technological agricultural facilities at NPUST and we look forward to more cooperation opportunities in the future, so that we will be able to jointly promote the development and application of smart agricultural technology internationally.”

While on campus, the distinguished guests from Saint Lucia were introduced to water conservation-related technologies and advanced agriculture-related technologies, including unmanned vehicles, robot arms, and green energy greenhouses. For the guests who travelled a great distance to be there, the comprehensive facilities at NPUST made the trip well worth it.
