Witnesses to the ceremony included Director-General Shi Wen-Ling, Dean Hsu Ju-Chu of the College of Humanities, Vice Dean Kuo Kuei-Bin, Director Lin Hsiu-Ching of the Sports Office, Professor Chao Chih-Yeh from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Associate Professor Chen Min-Hung from the Department of Recreation and Sports Management, and Associate Professor Chen Chia-Hsiang, head of the Innovative Sports Technology Lab and coach of the cycling team.
President Chang Chin-Long of NPUST expressed gratitude for the donation, saying, “Dadian Precision has had a close collaboration with our university for a long time. From the Dadian lab’s collaboration with the Department of Mechanical Engineering on the golf club series to the NT$300,000 donation to the soccer team in 2006, and now the donation of five carbon fiber mountain bikes, Dadian has made multiple contributions to our university. We hope for sustained collaboration, mutual exchange, and the enhancement of experience and technology in the future.” Chairman Lee Kong-Wen of Dadian Precision delivered a speech, stating, “Dadian is located in the Neipu Industrial Zone. I have long served as an advisor to NPUST and as a committee member, showing great concern for the school’s developments. At the end of the year and the beginning of President Chang Chin-Long’s tenure, we are donating five carbon fiber mountain bikes to the school for its use. In addition to urban leisure riding, these versatile bikes can be used for outdoor off-road exploration. They can enhance the skills of athletes and bring glory to the university.”
NPUST focuses on cultivating interdisciplinary talent, emphasizing the development of students’ professional skills and diverse expertise. The formation of sports talents requires not only physical fitness but also determination and relentless effort. With various sports technologies available today, traditional training methods can be surpassed, allowing sports talents to strengthen their skills. In the current academic year, the university’s cycling team participated in the “Cycling Omnium” for the first time and achieved the remarkable rank of fifth place. Dadian Precision’s products have received numerous accolades, especially the VOLANDO bicycle brand, which has been recognized by the Taiwan Excellence Awards for 17 consecutive years. The collaboration between NPUST and Dadian Precision is expected to propel the university’s development in sports technology, not only by providing training for excellent cyclists but also by cultivating interdisciplinary skills. This collaboration deepens students’ understanding of bicycle structures, furthering their knowledge of maintenance and care for bicycles. In future competitions, this understanding of bicycle structures is expected to contribute to achieving better results.
Currently, four mountain bike riders from NPUST are undergoing training. Thanks to Dadian Precision’s generous donation, the equipment and teaching staff for these athletes have been enhanced. More importantly, this donation has fostered a greater love for sports among the NPUST community in the vibrant sports atmosphere on campus. The expectation is that, in the future, athletes will reach new heights in competitions, ensuring a balanced and healthy development for all students and faculty at NPUST.
