陳和賢教授與龍暐助理教授在2020年9月18日臺灣時間17時至23時，世界竹組織(World Bamboo Organization)舉辦的「2020 世界竹日」，有來自台灣、印度、澳大利亞、越南、菲律賓、不丹、孟加拉國、巴西、美國、烏干達及泰國等多位專家超過20場的專題演講，有13個國家約270位線上報名參與。陳和賢教授及龍暐助理教授的講題「Interdisciplinary and Innovative Techniques of Bamboo at NPUST」，分享台灣在竹子加工利用的發展，提到台灣已利用竹子生產各種設計精美的家具，在濾水器、環境汙染過濾設備運用竹碳技術，同時以竹子技術與紡織品結合，並製造用來殺菌消毒的竹醋液和綠能生質酒精。木材科學與設計系龍暐助理教授更展示世界唯一手工製作的竹材小提琴及音色，豔驚全場，對台灣竹加工產業技術印象深刻。

Professor Ho-Hsien Chen, Dean, College of Agriculture and Assistant Professor Way Long participated in the “2020 11th World Bamboo Day International Celebration” organized by World Bamboo Organization on September 18, 2020 (17:00-23:00, GMT+8). Participants were from Taiwan, India, Australia, Vietnam, the Philippines, and Bhutan. Experts from Bangladesh, Brazil, United States, Uganda, and Thailand gave more than 20 special lectures on topics related to bamboos. There were total 270 on-line registration from 13 countries. The topic of the presentation of Dean Chen and Dr Way Long was “Interdisciplinary and Innovative Techniques of Bamboo at NPUST”, wherein they shared the development of bamboo processing and utilization in Taiwan, and mentioned that Taiwan has used bamboo to produce a variety of high quality designed furniture. Other applications including filter equipment with bamboo carbon, bamboo-infused textiles, bamboo vinegar production for sanitization, and green energy bioethanol were introduced. Assistant Professor Way Long from the Department of Wood Science and Design also played a hand-made violin 100% made of bamboo, the first ever one in the world, that astonished the audience very much.
